Hermes Oran Sandals | Are they worth it?

Sleek, stylish and not to mention iconic, the Hermes Oran Sandals are an essential in my closet. According to Hermes, the Hermes Oran Sandals were first designed in 1997 by Pierre Hardy, the sandals got their name from the city of Oran, the Mediterranean coast in Algeria. Because of their timeless fashion, the Hermes Oran Sandals became not only popular in Europe, but also across the USA and Canada.

From the quality craftsmanship paired with the classic and minimalist design, the Hermes Oran Sandals are a timeless staple for your wardrobe. They come in classic leather colours like black, white and gold (which looks close to a natural brown). They’re also available in different colours and materials that bring personality to a look for whoever wears it. Since its launch in 1997, this sandal’s classic and minimalist design has captured the fashion world’s attention by storm.

With the popularity of the sandals comes a lot of knock off versions becoming available in the market. To avoid purchasing a replica, I purchased my Hermes Oran Sandals in Europe. Specifically from the Charles De Galle Airport in Paris, which also saved me from paying duties and taxes. These Hermes Sandals costs less to purchase in Europe rather than purchasing this iconic sandal in Canada. They are an investment, but I prefer to spend my money on a hand crafted, high quality, sustainable shoe that will increase in value over time, rather than support the fast fashion industry.

Hermes Oran Sandals Review

After having these Noir Hermes Oran sandals for a few years, I am still absolutely in love with them! I can wear them season after season. The versatility of these sandals allows me to wear them when I’m dressed up or down. They also have a great resale value which may pique your curiosity, but I don’t think I’ll be letting go of these sandals anytime soon.

As with everything I purchase, I look for high quality and sustainable materials that can increase a pieces’ shelf life. These sandals are handmade using box calfskin leather in Italy. This leather has also been used in Hermes bags and like their bags, these sandals hold up the brand’s amazing product quality. Personally, I think these sandals are worth it – rather than purchasing one pair of sandals every year or every two years. It’s likely that I will have these in my closet for over a decade.

With each purchase I make that goes into my closet, I prioritize quality over quantity. I’d rather have a few timeless pieces of high quality rather than many pieces that go out of style. These sandals are the only pair of black sandals that I own. They’re classic sandals that can be paired with any look that I have!
