How to use Pinterest for business: promoting your personal brand

Gone are the days of only using Pinterest to create your perfect wedding colleague and style inspo. As a social media platform that’s often overlooked, Pinterest has a lot of potential for bloggers and creators looking to build their online presence. In this blog post I’m sharing my expert tips for how to use Pinterest for business.

Over the last year my team has been using Pinterest as a lead promoter for my personal brand (which I often use to lead clients to my social media agency Soar Media Group). As of now, we are actively getting 30K to 40K views on my pins per month. This is huge organic exposure.

Best practices: How to use Pinterest for business

Create a Pinterest Business Account
If you’re serious about using Pinterest to promote your fashion blog, it’s important to create a business account. This will give you access to analytics and other features that aren’t available on personal accounts. To create a business account, simply go to Pinterest for Business and follow the instructions.

Optimize Your Profile
Once you’ve created your business account, it’s important to optimize your profile. This means adding a profile picture, writing a bio, and including a link to your blog. Your profile picture should be a high-quality image that represents your brand, while your bio should be clear and concise. Make sure to include relevant keywords in your bio to help people find you when they search for fashion-related content.

Create Boards
Boards are a great way to organize your content on Pinterest. Create boards that reflect the topics you cover on your fashion blog, such as “Fashion Trends,” “Fashion Tips,” “Outfit Ideas,” and so on. Make sure to give your boards descriptive names and add keywords to the board descriptions. This will help your boards show up in search results when people look for fashion-related content.

Pin High-Quality Images
Pinterest is a visual platform, so it’s important to pin high-quality images that will catch people’s attention. Make sure your images are clear, well-lit, and visually appealing. If you’re not a great photographer, consider using stock photos or hiring a professional photographer to take photos for your blog. You can also use Canva or other graphic design tools to create eye-catching graphics for your pins.

Use Keywords in Your Pin Descriptions
Pinterest is a search engine, so it’s important to use keywords in your pin descriptions. This will help your pins show up in search results when people look for fashion-related content. Make sure to include relevant keywords in your pin descriptions, but don’t stuff your descriptions with too many keywords. Your descriptions should be clear and informative and should give people a reason to click through to your blog.

Pin Consistently
To get the most out of Pinterest, it’s important to pin consistently. Aim to pin at least 10-15 times per day, and make sure to spread out your pins throughout the day. You can use scheduling tools like Tailwind or Hootsuite to schedule your pins in advance and save time.

Engage with Other Pinners
Engaging with other pinners can help you get more visibility on Pinterest. Follow other fashion bloggers and people who share similar interests, and like and comment on their pins. This will help you build relationships with other pinners and increase your reach on the platform.

Promote Your Pinterest Account on Your Blog
To get more followers on Pinterest, it’s important to promote your account on your blog. Add a Pinterest widget to your blog, and include a call-to-action asking people to follow you on Pinterest. You can also include Pinterest share buttons on your blog posts to make it easy for people to pin your content.

Use Rich Pins
Rich pins are a type of pin that includes extra information, such as product details, recipe ingredients, or article titles. If you’re a fashion blogger, you can use rich pins to include information about the clothing items or accessories featured in your blog posts. This will make it easier for people to find and purchase the items you feature on your blog.

Track Your Analytics
Finally, it’s important to track your analytics on Pinterest to see how your pins are performing. Use the analytics dashboard to see which pins are getting the most engagement, which boards are the most popular, and how many clicks and impressions your pins are getting. This will help you adjust your strategy and make sure you’re getting the most out of Pinterest.
